On Saturday, 25 April 98, UK's Holmes Hall threw a party called the North Campus Pork Festival; it involved pork barbecue and live music and a dunking booth and all that jazz. ...And they wanted AoY to play.
One small catch --- Neal had already planned an excursion to Chicago to catch the Rolling Stones' last show in America (for the Bridges to Babylon Tour), a make-up gig from earlier in the tour. Rather than force Neal to suffer through missing what would be his ninth Stones show (on this one tour alone), we located a stand-in percussionist for that one day.
John Rucker is an incredible drummer, and as of this writing is free and searching a band. He's also an old friend of Andy's. So Kristian and Andy and I broke John in in a single rehearsal on Friday night (the night before the gig) in our living room. He performed marvellously, in spite of his claims of "lack of practice." Of course, we imbibed rather more of Andy's "lemonade" than we expected...
The next day, we all showed up, just a little hung over, and played a knock-down set to a mostly sleeping collegiate audience. A certain GSP fellow named Zabet (aka Elizabeth Stewart) was on hand to take pictures, and was kind enough to let me know several days later when they'd been developed!
Here are a whole slew of those pictures. The images below are the small versions, about 3K apiece. Each image is a link to a larger, higher-resolution version (from 40K-80K).
P.S., John is the guy behind the drums. ;-)
