From their diverse backgrounds, As of Yet conjure a solid, old-fashioned sound without sounding like a retro act. Kentucky Kernel columnist Travis Robinson described As of Yet as "infused with a creative energy that defies classification;" another listener once described them as "an alternative Steely Dan." Indeed, the group shifts song-by-song from straight-ahead rock to jazz to "whatever rocks." With so many influences pulling their songs in so many directions, you'll only get a good feel for the band's sound by listening to several songs for yourself.
For their second birthday this February, As of Yet released their first
official, full length album, Leave Bronx, comprising forty-two minutes
of rock and roll in eight easy installments.

Stylistically, the album typifies the band's diversity, ranging from the driving rock'n'roll of "86 Miles to Chicago" to the groove of "Nine More Nights;" from the "B Song"'s hypnotic moodiness to "Fictional Man"'s fiery urgency; from the goofy funk of "Superstar" to the introspective dreaming of "Remarks of Mind."
Leave Bronx was recorded entirely in Exile on Journal Studios' Studio A (a fancy name for the drummer's bedroom), engineered and mixed by the band members themselves, on rented and borrowed four-track equipment. Dwight Dunlap of Toys in the Attic Studio digitally mastered the original mixes and Nashville, Tennessee's We Make Tapes made the cassettes. The finished product, released by "Exile on Journal Records," is now for sale at the whopping price of $5!
As of Yet began writing music in the fall of 1994, starting humbly with basement practices and aiming for much more. Since their first gig, a free outdoor festival in April 1995, As of Yet have played a couple dozen shows at various venues in the Lexington area, including the clubs Lynagh's Emporium, Richmond's Phone 3 Lounge, the now-defunct Wrocklage and J.D.I., and even several stripped-down, acoustic-style dates at the Coffee Stop.
