note that the main window shows the driver name around the image controls --- this is because the software can use either its own vicam control (via libhomeconnectusb) or any standard Video4Linux device.

i also decided to stick with system conventions; note that the "Configure Server" window explains that your ftp server password goes in the .netrc file. this keeps me from having to write code that handles the password chat --- ftp just does it itself.
